[SOLVED] a parse error rather than the 404 page displayed when page not found

Someone in my organization inadvertently sent out an email with a link to a page on the old website which does not exist on the new website:

http://www.agnon.org/whats_happening/parasha.php

Instead of the 404 message, the site shows the following error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/shem/public_html/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/functions.php(477) : eval()'d code on line 2

Why is that, and what can I do to fix that?

What version of Atahualpa and WP?
what is in parasha.php?

parasha.php was a page that appeared on the old site (it's the weekly torah portion). The client decided to drop this feature, so there's no corresponding page on the new site.

Why not put in a new module with that name and have it send you to the home page
