Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

[SOLVED] I downloaded the update... and now I want the old version back!

Hi. I have a small church-related website, set up by a friend, on which I've been using Atahualpa happily for the last nine months.

Today I decided to click on the "Update" note, and - while I see some attractive changes - I'm not very happy with others.

In the first place, although I write most of the posts and I do all of the work of posting, I'm not the only author. I need to get rid of the "By Bryan" line that now magically appears at the top of every post, and as quickly as possible. We each sign our contributions at the bottom, and that seems to work very well.

I liked the old look better, too. I don't see a way to incorporate a logo anymore.

Can someone help me? I either need to get the old version back or find a way to fix the things that need fixing. I am not a techie (I'm just a reasonably intelligent liberal arts major), and I am not conversant with the lingo, so I beg your indulgence and your charity.

Thank you!

Could you post a link to the site so we can take a look?

Unfortunately with the auto update there is no way of reverting back to your previous theme. This will have to be reconfigured.

Can't I even go back to an earlier database backup? I have absolutely no idea of how to reconfigure it, and I really need to get that "By Bryan" thing off there pronto.

Same for me. Wish I had not hit "update". I prefer the look of my previous site better. I had just showed it to some folks who also liked the look. Now this blue line is dominant and there are many small things I just do not like. And now my left side calendar and navigation are gone (even though in my settings, they are selected).

Any tips on going back a version or how to reconfigure?
Thanks,
Suzanne

Hitting updated does indeed overwrite settings. It's recommended to upgrade manually per these instructions.

When you say your calendar and navigation are selected what do you mean? Your left sidebar is not even set to show. I would also turn off you right inner sidebar.

What version did you upgrade to? I would suggest upgrading to 3.5.3 Manually, applying the 3.5.3 bug fixes. At that point you would have different styles you could import.

wow. THANK YOU. so simple.... just turn on the side bar and things magically appear (assuming you tell it to).
Left side bar is on now. next, I need to fix a few style things, but the site is coming back together.

I have 3.4.9. Will follow your recommendation and upgrade again. Thank you!!

hmm.. one thing I can not yet figure out is how to turn off the navigation in the header. If I set it for blank" it inserts text "no categories". So, I just added teh "featured" category as a short term fix.

If you are talking about the one of the navigation bars look in ATO>Style & edit Header Area
