Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Hey juggledad. Thanks for the tutorial (HOWTO: float the search box and RSS icons over the header image) in the gold froum. How do I arrange the search bar and RSS icon to follow the fluid width of the site?

If you did everything right, it should be flowing with the site. Are you having an issue?

Yes. We've overlayed the search bar and RSS icon on the menu bar rather than the header image itself. We've also fixed the width because of issues in IE. However, the items are still not fluid - that is, if I restore down the window, they appear on top of the navigation drop-down menus.

Thanks!

if you note the title of the thread, this was intended to float the search box over the header image.
If you want it as part of the menubar, you would be better off modifying the code in BFA_configure header and add it to the end of the menubar. Yhat way it will be restricted to teh menubar and not float over it.

Thanks juggledad...would I use the same method you detailed and simply add it to that file instead of as a CSS insert?

Also, even floating on the header image these items do not stay fixed with the rest of the content...

the items stay fixed to where you put them on the page. The header image gets cropped depending on what you specify at ATO-> Header Image->Header Image: Alignment

If you put the search box on the right side of the page and set the 'Header Image: Alignment' to top right, when you resize the widdow the image will get cropped on the left side, so you will see no movement. The image and the search box/Rss icons are independent.

We've embedded our logo into the left side of the header image, then uploaded the header image. I think your suggestion would cut off the logo. Do you have any other ideas or could you please instruct how to add these items to the menu bar?

Thanks!

well if you want to add them to the menubar, you can go edit bfa_header_config.php and add the code in there.

Note: I've rolled this out to a new thread since it really doesn't have to do with that thread.

Do you know if this will also work in the next version?

Depends on weither that module is changed a lot. And I'm not being flippant. This is the risk of changing any of the theme code. You need to keep good notes and run the risk of it not working in a future release.
