I don't understand the difference between inner and outer Widgets

So, what is the difference. More importantly, how can I screw it up?

a widget is a widget is a widget.

A sidebar on the other hand...
you can have up to 4 sidebars, two on each side or any combinatiion you want

Sorry - I knew that about widgets - I meant sidebars...

So, why is one called inner and one outer?

you have

left outer sidebar, left inner sidebar, center column, right inner sidebar, right outter sidebar

It makes it easier to identify them
