Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Hi folks at BFA,

although I appreciate your regular Atahualpa update mechanisms very much, I struggled today evening in the following issue by updating from 3.6.7 to 3.6.8:

In the past all theme updates didn't influenced my own codings, i.e. .php-files for individual function definitions or post templates. The theme updates overwrote Atahualpa settings only, and didn't touched my files.

But updating from 3.6.7 to 3.6.8 all of my individual files were deleted - they were deleted by the BFA update process! - I spent some time to reconstruct them from the backup of my web hoster!

Honestly, I don't think, it is very user friendly to erase all files in the Atahualpa directory and to replace them with the updates. This blows your users to spend more than 15min (depending by amount of files and internet connectivity) to update.

The same is with the image files in the directory themes/atahualpa/images/header

Actually this has nothing to do with Atahualpa - even though that doesn't make what happened less painful. That is how WordPress's automatic update process works. It deletes the theme folder prior to installing the new version.

You should ALWAYS backup (1) your database and (2) your wp-contents folder prior to any major change. This is also why I always do a manual upgrade so I can verify things.
