I don't know if this qualifies as "study on the subject" but I am of the "one picture tells more than a thousand words" school, so I want to share my Montezuma based website score:
Of course that result does not just come out of any random cheap shared host install (as sysadmin I prepared a VPS for that), but it proves it can be done.
