will header images do Javascript rotation and crossfade with a random order of images

Should I be able to have the header images in my Atahualpa 3.6.7 site do Javascript rotation and crossfade with a randomly selected order of images?

I’ve looked but I don’t find my exact question. Apologies if I didn’t look hard enough.
Working on this URL: http://blogs.cuit.columbia.edu/medren/
The site is currently using options that change the header image randomly when the page is loaded.
With the following settings, I thought I could add image rotation and crossfade: ATO ->Header Image: Rotate header images with Javascript: 20; Sort or shuffle header images: Shuffle; Fade in/out header images with Javascript: 1; Preload header images for Javascript rotation: No -- Result: Images rotate/crossfade, but in the order of the image names. The same initial image or two is all most visitors see (of the 27 cool images available) before they leave the page…and then the same first image appears every time as they continue browsing the site.
With the following settings: Rotate header images with Javascript: 0; Sort or shuffle header images: Shuffle; Fade in/out header images with Javascript: 0 -- Result: At each page load, a new image is selected randomly and displayed without rotation while the viewer stays on that page. (What I would expect with those settings.)
On ATO ->Configure CSS & JS the settings are: CSS and Javascript: External. CSS and Allow Debugging: No. (These were chosen to fix a type spacing bug, answer found on this forum. :))
This is a university environment where I can’t work with the js. What I hope you can give me is a combination of options that works to do randomly ordered rotation.
I’m relying on Atahualpa for its flexibility. Thanks.

That SHOULD work but that javascript for the rotation is code that is no londer supported and we have seen some issues with it. Sometimes there is a plugin conflict for example.

So you can try deactivating all plugins to see what happens but what I do is use other header rotators which also give me more functionality. One is the Cimy Header Image Rotator plugin. You just put the code for that in place of %image and you are all set. You may have to use some CSS to tweak it though. I gives you the ability to link each image or the images, and other fade effects.

Also do you have the 3.6.7 PATCHES applied? Here are the links.
  • PATCH 367-01: Odd effects when 'CSS: Compress' = 'Yes'
  • PATCH 367-02 is incorporated in PATCH 367-04
  • PATCH 367-03: PHP errors when adding widget areas in index.php
  • PATCH 367-04: Hovering over a Post/Page title only shows "Permanent Link to"
  • PATCH 367-05: Site Title appended after the 'WordPress SEO by Yoast' title

Thanks lmilesw and juggledad! Your work in the forum has helped me several times, just by my searching.

I have forwarded the patches list to the Columbia University IT folks.
As for my problem, I think I can sell my client on the simple random selection of images on page loads.

Best,
Lynn in Seattle
