I am unable to add a text widget to my left sidebar. I drag it over and add the content, but it never appears and does not save. When I go back to the widgets page, it always gone. Please advise.

What version of Atahualpa, WP and PHP?
What plugins do you have active?
Do you have Event calendar? If so disable it.

I do have Event Calendar. Do you have another suggestion for a calendar plugin?

Try Calendar by Kieran O'Shea. It doesn't seem to conflict with anything.
