I need to set a static homepage that with the url mydomainname.com

I realize I can set a static page settings/reading but the url of that page cannot be mydomainname.com if I am understanding it correctly.

It is critical that the url of the top page stays at mydomainname.com without anything after the .com

Never mind. I think I found a solution by creating a page with no category and setting it as the homepage.
