Is there an easy way of placing an extra widget to the right of the logo?

I tried creating a new widget area but I can't see how to position it to the right of the logo only below it.

You can see what I'm doing on the temporary site http://www.gbw247.info/executivepost2/. I want to put a widget on the right hand side sitting over the blue background. The plain text separating the logo and the page menu is just a temporary example that I was trying to position correctly.

I'm sure this is blindingly obvious to you guys, but I've been scratching my head for hours.

Instead of using %logo add a two celled widget area and use html to add the logo in a text widget in the right widget area. Use the new widget area parameters to size the widget areas as you want.
