Dear Atahualpa Team,

First of all I would like to once again thank you for an amazing theme. My website, My Beijing Stories.com has become a big success here in the PRC. Many people are so impressed with the site design and functionality that they automatically assume that there is a team working on it - in reality, it's just me, but thanks to your theme, I have an extremely professional site.

That aside, there is one problem that I can't seem to get a handle on. I have tried to Google for this solution and checked many forums to no avail. My "Most Popular Stories" widget on the lower left no longer displays numbers when I tell it to be an ordered list. It just has a big blank space in the margin where they should be. Right now I have it set as <ul> so it doesn't look hideous, but in any case all my unordered lists are missing their bullet points (see here for an example). I went into my CSS and changed my widget list type to "decimal" but this did nothing. I've fiddled with the CSS but not had any luck. I know there's a simple solution but it eludes me.

Help a noob out, please?

Thank you again! I almost never donate, but I am happy to support you guys.

Best,

Kmax

The list styles for widget areas are set to none for reasons I am not certain of but the way lists can be styled is using a background image. There are some list background images included with Atahualpa. The following would give you a square bullet on your popular posts widget. You would just put this in ATO>Add HTML/CSS Inserts>CSS Inserts. You could of course add other images. This gives you quite a bit of styling freedom as you can use any image.
HTML Code:
#popular-posts ul li {
    background: url("http://www.mybeijingstories.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa364/images/bullets/round-gray.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 7px transparent;
    margin-left: 10px !important;
}
On your Beijing Stories page though you could use something like the following.
HTML Code:
ul.lcp_catlist li {
    list-style-type: square !important;
}

Thanks!

However, I am most concerned about getting the popular post widget to display the posts as a numbered list so they are ranked according to popularity. Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks again!

The combination of Jetpack and WordPress.com Popular Posts plugins should do the trick for you. Instsll Jetpack first as the other needs it.

No luck with that either. The Wordpress.com Popular Posts widget shows no data, and continued showing no data even after Jetpack started showing stats. Any other ideas? If not, thanks for your help

I would play around with those a bit more as I was immediately able to add a numbered list in my sidebar.

Got it!

HTML Code:
}
#popular-posts ol li {
    list-style-type: decimal !important;
    margin-left: -14px !important;
}
My story lists now also look a lot better.

Thanks for your help! Order has been restored in the universe. Whew.
