There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

[SOLVED] Having shortcode issues, where in Ata should I look

I'm attempting to get the e-commerce plugin e-shop up and running, but it seems none of the shortcodes it uses are working.

Between my searching regarding e-shop in the WP forums, as well as the discussions regarding how shortcodes are defined, I think I need to define the shortcodes used by the plugin in the index.php template.

The default WP theme uses page.php for pages, but Atahualpa uses index.php. I suspect the plugin looked for/modified page.php, which is why they aren't working.

I know it's not the purpose of this forum to support other products, but this is the only place I can get the Atahualpa-specific stuff. Thanks in advance.

...but I really don't know what I'm doing, just what I've read.

What version of atahualpa, wp and e-shop?
What is the URL?
Are all the e-shop pages set up?
What short code and where are you putting it?

Ata 3.5.3
WP 3.0.4
e-shop 6.2.2

Never mind on the mystery shortcodes, though.

The problem was one of page hierarchy and pages being published.

In order for the [eshop_list_subpages] shortcode to work, a page has to have children (hence, sub-pages).

You can only select published (not draft or privately published) pages from the "Select Parent" menu in the page editing options, which is makes building out a store a bit tricky on a live site, as you're stuck publishing things that aren't actually ready.

The workaround I have for now is adding the page IDs to the Ata page menu exclude list. They're technically "published", just not displayed in the only menu to get to them. Unfortunately, children of a non-displayed page will still show up in the menu if not specifically excluded as well. Any workaround for that?

Never mind again.

I used the WP 3+ menu structure to explicitly define which pages are displayed, rather than the old Atahualpa "Pages" menu.

I can now build out my store in peace.
