Hi,

My original site is here http://bachutha.drpetersnews.com/. I am transferring everything to a new host. It it has been one long nightmare. The new site is here http://bachutha.com

The first time I transferred the site about 6 days ago, I imported the db -sql import, the WP (Tools Import) and and copied the Athualpa subdirectory. I ran into unbelievable amount of

"Error establishing a database connection".

My original site (and other website http://www.drpetersnews.com - multi-domain site) went off line with

"Sorry for the inconvenience!
The filesystem mounted at / on this server is running out of disk space. cPanel operations have been temporarily suspended to prevent something bad from happening. Please ask your system admin to remove any files not in use on that partition."

I was stuck because I couldn't go back to my old server and down load the files again. After many tries of installing fresh Atahualpa (download from WP)..., deleting & creating a new db (empty) file... and importing into WP the XML files.... It started to work.

The next day the site went blank. I could log into WP as administrator but could not view the site as a visitor - blank screen.

Switched to Twenty ten and twenty eleven theme the screens came back ... the website was visible. Everything looks ok in 2010 and 2011 themes. In Atahualpa the thumbnails in the excerpts did not show. Then tried changing settings, tried changing to full post (WP Settings / Reading), imported Atahualpa settings,.... didn't work. Deleted whole site and reinstalled WP, Installed fresh Atahualpa and imported data (WP tools / import) with new empty db. It looked like it was working - except thumbnails in excerpts missing.

Next day, thumbnails missing in excerpts. Then read me links in excerpts didn't work. Now I really do not know what to do.

I began searching for alternative theme. Tried a few looked okay by not happy with theme design. Spent almost 6 hours searching for more themes. Tried out many themes. ... Then I noticed all those tested alternative themes began to give similar problems as with Atahualpa - thumbnails missing and read me links on excerpts not working.

I have removed & installed all plugins but no difference with or without plugin.

Now I am very stuck and the old host is closing shop in about 30 days.

What should I do to get it working correctly like my old site?

Thanks for responding quickly. My old site (http://bachutha.drpetersnews.com) is still active but not as bachutha.com but as a subdomain of http://www.drpetersnews.com. The new site is now http://bachutha.com after dns propagation. They are supposed to be identical and the old site will be deleted within 30 days.

From the old site (http://bachutha.drpetersnews.com) you can see how beautifully Atahualpa works ... really loved it. But the new site (http://bachutha.com) has too many problems.

When you visit the new site many excerpts will not open up to a full page. Many times the thumbnails didn't show in the excerpts - for example if you click on the 'Food' category and select one of the options eg bread or pizza.

Hi juggledad,

I just noticed that those excerpts where "continue reading ... " links work ie switches to the linked post and shows the whole page, have the top title as a link. Those excerpts that the "continue reading ..." links that do not work ie not switch to the respective post and display whole post page, have titles that are not linked to anything. Why are there always two titles?

I just realised that my previous reply did not get posted to you. The two sites should be identical. The old site is http://bachutha.drpetersnews.com and the new site is http://bachutha.com. The old site became a sub-domain of http://www.drpetersnews.com once the dns propagation took place. Eventually, the other site (drpetersnews.com) will be transferred to a new host as my hosting provider is closing / ceasing operations.

It is when you click on the "continue reading ... " links you see the difference.

I may have found the problem but I do not know what is causing it.

When I opened the first article for editing I found everything gone, missing, except those parts before the "Insert More" tag.

Hi juggledad,

I tried WP Tools Import to reload the posts and pages from the old site. That didn't work because the Import function does not overwrite the old posts and pages.

Do I have to delete the entire site and restart again? Or copy and paste post by post!

When moving a site you should follow the directions in the wordpress codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
