Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

[SOLVED] No titles in Internet Explorer only

I'm now using Internet Explorer 9 and the titles don't work for it for all of the posts and pages. They work fine for other browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera). Whereas for IE I get only the URL for my website...

http://asamblejabiblike.com

I have Atahualpa 3.7.9 ... I'm also using YOAST SEO ... I changed the theme to TWENTY ELEVEN and the titles worked fine!

I searched the forum about this and found none that was addressing it. For any help I would be grateful.

What happens if you disable the yeost seo plugin?

I tried disabling YOAS SEO, and nothing happens ... the problem remains. I also tried to disable some other plugins I thought could conflict, and still the problem remained. ??

This sounds like an ie9 issue. What font are you using?

What if you look at a non Wordpress site? Does the title show?

I'm using TAHOMA ... I have this for BODY STYLE:

font-family: tahoma, arial, sans-serif;

With other sites I don't have a problem; even from within the dashboard of my site, the titles work.

My old website created with Yahoo SiteBuilder, work fine ... the titles show.

I disabled all plugins, except AKISMET and CUSTOMIZABLE PERMALINKS ... Only the homepage works (asamblejabiblike.com and asamblejabiblike.com/index/), whereas other pages don't work ... get bring a HTTP404. I guess I'll have to activate SEO for this.

And still the problem with the titles continues with the homepage.

Even after enabling again all the plugins, the posts/pages show an HTML404, except the homepage (and /index/). I enabled DEBUG and it shows the following, which in fact was the same like before disabling/enabling all the plugins.

Notice: wp_enqueue_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /index/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2758

I'm also looking at the logs file and will see if there's anything that can help to solve the new problem now.

I would test by deactivating ALL the plugins including akismet and customizable permalinks. I would also test checking Force rewrite titles in WordPress SEO.

I deactivated now all the plugins. The same problem; only the homepage works (everything else HTTP404). I'll activate all and do FORCE REWRITE RULES in YOAST SEO! Thanks!

Try setting your Permalinks to default and save. Then set back to what you now have and save. Sometimes the Permalinks get "messed up".

Yes, I set the permalinks to default and now they work. Thank you. Finally...

Sadly, the original problem with the titles for IE only, continues... I'll continue to follow this problem... Thanks, again, Larry...

OK, check the screenshot and compare the 2 tabs, (BTA forum) and the tab for my site, which shows only "asamblejabiblike.com", whereas it should show "ASAMBLEJA BIBLIKE - Një kishë sipas Dhiatës së Re".

this is an IE9 issue - do a google search using 'ie9 <title>' and you will find lots of hits

see this link - looks like it it is a Windows 7 issue http://pctechnotes.com/how-to-fix-th...et-explorer-9/

But, again, the problem isn't solved ... the issue remains with the theme, I think, because when I changed to TWENTY ELEVEN, the post/page title APPEARS in the TAB (I, repeat, in the tab). The suggestion about WINDOWS VISTA or WINDOWS CLASSIC theme customization, of course, adds title to the UPPER TITLE BAR, but again it doesn't show the TITLE, but the LINK of the page/post. There should be something with the way META data are recognized by IE and something related to the theme (Atahualpa).

I use Windos Vista.

swap to twenty eleven - look at the page - look at the page source and examine the <title>
then do the same for Atahualpa - what is the difference?

There IS a difference in the beginning of the code between the 2 themes. TWENTY ELEVEN has the following related to INTERNET EXPLORER... (whereas ATAHUALPA doesn't have such "if IE"...

<!DOCTYPE html>
<!--[if IE 6]>
<html id="ie6" dir="ltr" lang="sq" xmlnsg="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/">
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 7]>
<html id="ie7" dir="ltr" lang="sq" xmlnsg="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/">
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 8]>
<html id="ie8" dir="ltr" lang="sq" xmlnsg="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/">
<![endif]-->
<!--[if !(IE 6) | !(IE 7) | !(IE 8) ]><!-->
<html dir="ltr" lang="sq" xmlnsg="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/">
<!--<![endif]-->
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />

<link rel="profile" href="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="http://asamblejabiblike.com/index/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/style.css" />
<link rel="pingback" href="http://asamblejabiblike.com/index/xmlrpc.php" />
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="http://asamblejabiblike.com/index/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/js/html5.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Let me ask again, what does the <title>....</title> line look like in both twenty-eleven and Atahualpa?

Atahualpa has this for the <title:

<title>ASAMBLEJA BIBLIKE - Një kishë sipas Dhiatës së Re</title> <link rel="shortcut icon"

Twenty Eleven has this for the <title>:

<title>ASAMBLEJA BIBLIKE - Një kishë sipas Dhiatës së Re</title>

Could this <link rel="shortcut icon" be the problem?

Yes, and it's only for the TITLE BAR, which shows what is read from the <title> meta data, but not solving the problem. The title of the page/post should show on the TAB BAR, like in other browsers. When I changed to WINDOWS CLASSIC, it would show the LINK of the page/post, but not the title.

Well I can't do any more to help you - I have no access to IE9 and as it is working on all other browsers and versions of IE I can only assume it is a IE9 issue.
