Page menu improperly stacked in IE6 - What's up with that?

I have worked with this theme a lot, and I love it, but I have noticed that when I make certain changes to the menu bar (like adding a background image to the rollover) it causes the menu to stack the items on top of one another instead of being in a straight line like in FF, Safari and newer IE versions.

www.msfancypaints.com - here is an example that looks wonky in IE6 (ignore the PNG issues, please)

Can someone assist me with this, because I am about to launch another site and I really could use to fix this one because this client is insistent on being IE6 compatible, and having images for the rollover.

Thank you in advance.

It works for me in IE6 when I add float:left to the A as well instead of just the LI
