How do I insert a fixed branded image for the top of each category page?

my client wants a category-specific image placed at the top of the category page. this is not a header image.

So do they want this in addition or replacing the header image?

actually, they would love it if the header image could change according to what category page they were on, but i told them that was not possible. is it?
