Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Fluid Rotating Headers

ATO theme options currently set an absolute value for the height of the header area in a user selectable box "Header Image: Height".

I would like that value to be fluid.

The problem is that though the header image itself resizes proportionally, the header area in which it is contained does not, causing a major white area to appear between the bottom of the header image and the rest of the site on smaller monitors (and when resizing or zooming the browser window)

I don't know what's involved from a programming standpoint, but given the other features (below) of the header that use Javascript, that would be my best guess.

"Rotate header images with Javascript?" Where you also "Select amount of seconds between rotation".

"Fade in/out header images with Javascript?"

I know that the fade function disables some of the other tricks that can be done, i.e.: Make header image clickable, and Overlay blog Title and Tagline over Header Image(s). So, IF the fade feature would also complicate a resize function, might it be possible to confine the resizing to the period between the fades? Whatever the solution, it would also need to be compatible with the ATO "Layout WIDTH and type (Fluid)" setting on the "Style & configure Layout" page, which enables horizontal resizing (and which isn't bothered by the fade function).

There is no point in my speculating much on means and methods, but it certainly seems like it should be possible to make the header area height a function of, or dependent on, the image height. Retrieve image height + padding 10px;10px - or something similar.

Since I don't know what's involved in terms of work, I have no idea what this should be worth to someone to figure out, but let me know.
