Static Page for Front Page not working, defaults to Recent posts

Hi there,

I am using atahualpa353 on wp312 (couldnt upgrade to latest atahualpa due to another bug) ...

anyways..

Anytime I pick a static page for front page, it still defaults to posts updates...

I have disabled (deleted) plugins... none of it works... when i switch to another theme... it starts working even with all the plugins..

Any help would be appreciated...
