[SOLVED] removing the bars above my header images

Hi

I am very new to this and sort of stumbling through. I've finally got my own image into the header area, but there is a black bar above and below my header that i would like to get rid of. I've played around in several areas seeing if i can locate it, but have been unsuccessful. Any ideas where I might adjust this?
