There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

[SOLVED] Creating paragraphs to divide various subjects on one page

Maybe this is easier with a link: http://salek.nl/blog/projecten/
As you can see at the time of writing I feel I'm forced to use blockqoutes to make the two paragraphs seen separate from each other. I was actually hoping a simple divider line would do that.

But every other thing I try, the second 'headline' appears next to the first picture, simply because on widescreen monitor settings there is not enoug text to have the dividerline start on an empty line, below the upper picture, separating the two subjects.

What other option do I have then these block qoutes to divide paragraphs?

The second question; how do I create an extra line feed between the page name 'projecten' and the first subtitle?

Thank you.

Is my question so hard or not clear?

Let me ask it in another way; if you place a picture and align it left, so text is on the right side of the picture. When you only type one or two lines of text, imagine that your text has not exceeded the height of the picture yet.

How do you divide beneith your picture to start a new subject?

The next subject now simply starts next to the picture of the previous subject.

Hi Chester.

I ran into something similar while learning how to insert images into posts. I'm guessing its the same for Pages (though I haven't tried to insert images on these, yet).

What I discovered is that if you use anything but "none" for your image alignment then WP tries to wrap the text (semi-) intelligently around the image. I suspect (could be wrong) that this is the cause of your "weird alignments".

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure if that will help. I decided to create 'a wrong' page to show what my problem is...I hope your screen resolution is high enough to see both pictures more or less 'next' to each other.

How do I start that second text and second picture below the upper picture?

Hi Chester......Yes it is very frustrating, figuring this wysygysy editor thing.
It gave me a lot of grief yesterday rearranging my front page, something i had managed once
but wanted to improve on and was finding impossibly difficult.... I gave up and attempted to use tables and it was a piece of cake.
I have wrapped text around images but not with the problem of the text falling short of the image, so i tried some of the strategies i was using yesterday......

Such as....When you come to the end of your text, jump down a line (new paragraph) and mark it with a single full stop(.)...jump another and mark that and so on.

Update and go to your page and you can see how many lines it takes before it wraps around and you can position your next heading above where you want your next image.

Or input your header some lines further than necessary, update, view where your header is down the page and then backspace it back up the page until it falls where you want it to be

The down side is that you get left with the points at the start of the lines from the end of your text until the wraparound.
It is also possible to input empty space but its harder to judge........It could be we are both missing something.?????
You can check out what i mean....http://tothegarden.org/wp/?page_id=745
cheers.....jim
P.S This editor thingy stands for WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET...Either thats a joke or it could be subtitled WHAT YOU THINK YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU GET.........

LOL. What you see is kinda what you get, but maybe not. hehe..

Well, I tried the dots etc. The problem is that atahualpa is designed as a full screen width template. (which is what I wanted!) So, 800 x 600 users will then see a lot more space then 1440 x 900 users like me.

I'm actually quite happy with the current block quotation solution I'm using now, at least that looks good in every way.

Thanks for helping, at least now I know there wasn't an easy fix that I was overlooking.

ps. for future readers, the above page still exists but doesn't show the example anymore.

Chester,

Here is how you do it. In the post, edit it in HTML and wrap the test that appears after the image
in a <div style="clear:left"></div> so in your example you would have

HTML Code:
<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-693" title="verzekeringen" src="http://salek.nl/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/verzekeringen1.jpg" alt="verzekeringen" width="240" height="241" />

<div style="clear:left">
     Binnenkort allefinancile informatie …
</div>
<hr />

<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-695" title="champagne_glazen" src="http://salek.nl/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/champagne_glazen.jpg" alt="champagne_glazen" width="340" height="380" />
<div style="clear:left">
     I want the divider line to be below the upper picture, so we start a new paragraph, and the champagne glasses wil be below the upper picture too.
</div>
