Change category template

Hello,

I want make some minor changes in the design of category listings pages. When someone click on a category, I want an image to be displayed on the left of each post.

I'll put a div with an image from a custom field.

The only problem is that I can't figure out where to include my code. How can I edit the (and where) the design of category pages?
