Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Fixed position

I'm using a fixed width layout:
ATO -> Style & Configure Layout -> Layout WIDTH and type (FLUID or FIXED) -> 800px

The layout container is centered horizontally on the page. I want it to be at a fixed position (starting 180px in from the left of the screen) in order to position it correctly relative to a background image. I can't make this work. How do I do it?

I'm using Atahualpa 3.4.4 and Wordpress 2.8.6.

Thanks, Gavin

Hey!

In body, text and links:

padding-left: 180px;

Best,

Thanks M. That almost did what I need, but only almost. The content was still centered in the page if the page was wider than 180+content width

I added the following to body,text+links:

padding-left: 180px;
position: fixed;
left:0;

That does exactly what I want in Firefox, but not in IE (the content is still horizontally centered in IE).

Here's the prototype site: http://sustainablebishopston.bristoloutdoorclubs.co.uk/

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I see what you mean.

The only other thing I can think of is right sidebar width.

Best,

M.

No - the problem is still there.

I tried the last suggestion (added width:200px; to the right side-bar style) but it didn't help.

You can still see the difference in Firefox and IE here: http://sustainablebishopston.bristoloutdoorclubs.co.uk/

A pointer in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks, Gavin

Ah, this is an IE only issue - don't see it at all on the MAC (can we just get everyone to give up using IE?)

If I get some time this week, I see if I can figure out why this is happening in IE

That would be great if you could - I've spent a lot of time and not found a solution.

Unfortunately convincing all my users to give up IE isn't an option :-(

Thanks, Gavin
