Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Custom Headers option in functions.php

Custom Headers option in functions.php

There are a couple of plugins for selecting custom headers (Unique Headers, Custom Header Extended) which say "It should be noted that in order to use this plugin the custom headers option must be enabled (by the theme)." and they reference this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Headers.

Are Custom Headers enabled in Atahualpa? Since which version? I didn't see it in the functions.php for 3.8.3.

Just saw this post http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthr...aders+function of January 18, 2014, which, if referring to the same issue means that it doesn't, is that correct?

Can you tell me if it's just a matter of adding

add_theme_support( 'custom-header' );

to functions.php?

Thanks.

Well, I activated theme 2014 to see if it had custom headers, and it does. When it is activated, under Appearance, the option Header appears. There I could upload and set a header image, and the plugin Custom Header Extended works by allowing me to select a header for each post.

I tried putting add_theme_support( 'custom-header' ); in Atahualpa's functions.php, and re-activated it, but no option for Header appears, and the plugin doesn't show on the post's page.

I'm guessing something else needs to happen to make it work, or maybe there's an incompatibility, or I put it in the wrong place, but I don't know enough about Wordpress inner workings to make it work.

You could add a new widget area to the configure eader area option and then use a plugn like 'dynamic headers'

That's what I'm currently using. Works great except when a post is scheduled for the future rather than published immediately. When it is published in the future it reverts to the default image. That's why I'm trying to find another plugin that will work with the theme, and maintain the setting when it's published later.

Some plugins (like Dynamic Headers) aren't certified (don't know if that's the correct term) to work with later versions of Wordpress, or if they are, they require the Custom Header functionality.

Also, I can't do it by category because a post can be in more than one category, and I need to be able to select which header I want for it.

Is it possible to do it by keyword? I'm not currently using those for anything.
