Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

I just updated one of my sites (finally) from version 3.4.4 to 3.4.9 by downloading the current version zip file, uploading to my server and then switching themes. (zero problems so far)

I noticed there is still a line of previous code in the header.php file to add the canonical tag to pages and posts. Just to let you know, there is no need for this (as far as I can tell) since wordpress version 2.9, as it has been added to the wordpress core. Might as well take it out in the next upgrade.

I see it's still there. Since I'm using plugin for "canonicalization", it gives me duplicate canonical tag. I wouldn't have any problem with that, but it gives wrong canonical link. My homepage is static, but I'll be changing content of homepage overtime, so I don't want this particular content to be "canonicalized" as mydomain.com but mydomain.com/this_article. I'm using plugin to have control over that. How to remove it from Atahualpa forever without messing anything?

Hi jukooz,

the last I checked, it was this line in the header.php which is from the theme adding the canonical tag:
Code:
<?php if ( is_single() OR is_page() ) { ?><link rel="canonical" href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" /><?php } ?>
If you remove that, Atahualpa won't add it in any more.

You're welcome. Glad I could help.

Note: You'll have to remove this line of code with each upgrade to Atahualpa as long it it remains in the theme's code.
