Hi everybody!
I've been using Atahualpa for a few months and I really love it. I just joined the forum, after a few weeks of coming here to just read some of the threads.
I am not an advanced user like many of you are, but I'm slowly working on some things and trying to tweak the template to give it its own personality. I have some other projects I'd like to develop using this template, so my first blog is also the field where I experiment with some things.
I'd love to receive your feedback, comments and suggestions. It's in Spanish and it's basically about robots, but also about all the things I like: tv shows, movies, comic books, etc.

Thanks

Well I like the idea of showing off and I think Atahualpa is THE PERFECT WordPress Theme!
It's so incredibly flexible!
I've been able to perform every customization that I've wanted too.
The next thing I'm going to customize is my page bar to make it more graphically interesting.
Here's my Atahualpa themed website: Aim It Media
Let me know what everyone thinks.

SimonKemp of Hyde-End.com -- VERY nice! Any chance you'd be willing to share what script or plugin you are using for your photo slideshows?

Thanks, that was slideshow pro from http://slideshowpro.net/
I use the Lightroom version as the standalone version is a little long winded to set up - too many steps. With the LR version you can store your different slideshow types as presets so it's pretty easy to set up.

Atahualpa is definitely one of the very best theme out there.
I'm sure I haven't done anything too advanced on my movie blog but here it is: http://www.anomalousmaterial.com/movies/

Neat theme with so many ways to make it look that I am continuously tweaking it. Feedback would be nice as I am going for a simple layout, but I dont want it to be too simple...any comments (positive or constructive)?

Just thought I'd show off how customizable this theme is. Really so easy to design, stylize, and move things around.

Nice job on the site. I liked what you did with the sidebars with no bar in front of the recent posts.

The Capital Flow Watch site uses Atahualpa 3.4.4 with Wordpress 2.9.2, plus a lot of plugins (see the Acknowledgements link in the footer for a list of plugins used).
This site makes heavy use of excerpts on front, tag, category, and index pages.
As far as I can tell, Atahualpa is the best theme available for Wordpress, free or paid.

Whoa c4duser! BIG KUDOS on Capitol-Flow-Watch.NET!! I found your layout very compelling -- spent more time than I had to spare browsing your content -- having forgotten I was there just to survey the layout!
As a "WP person" I really enjoyed the footer "Acknowledgements" listing all the plugins you've used -- one thought is that you should really add back in Atahualpa or Bytes for All.
Question: I will be checking, but is there a way not to have the WP-PluginsUsed 1.50 plugin NOT list your inactive plugins? ...really can't see the point...
Question: But, seeing your inactive plugin list: Akismet?? I re-checked the Actives and can't see where you're providing protection against spam. Is turning off Akismet a temporary thing?
The more I think I understand screen resolution and how it relates to browser window width, the confused'er it turns out I am. But, I noticed on your site was that the two narrow columns in the double column area " Featured articles on inside pages" down low in your center column started to overlap if I narrowed the browser window much below 1200 pixels. Note sure, but you might want to check out Atahualpa's ability to limit the narrowing of the layout by setting a "min width".
Again! WoW! Thank you for sharing with the rest of us!

Thanks, Shepard Jim, for the kind comments on Capital Flow Watch. This site is a re-casting of an older site I've been running for a number of years.
The Akismet plugin is now active. I've used this plugin for years and find it excellent.
The 'plugins-used' plugin does allow to leave off the unused plugins, and I've now done that. I don't understand what you mean by adding back in Atahualpa etc. because it is mentioned. Maybe I should give Atahualpa greater prominence?
Thanks for the tip on the problem with the center column. I've set the minimum width to 1200 px as you suggested. I hadn't noticed this. The 'Featured on inside pages section' uses the 'Get Custom Field Values' plugin to randomly display categorized text similar to excerpts on selected articles, styled with CSS, in six widget areas placed in the center column. The purpose is to high-light certain articles that otherwise would be lost on the inside pages.
Thanks again.

c4duser: again WOW! I keep getting lost in your site. I link over to check out some WP usage and 15 minutes later I realize I was swallowed up in your content (..just about to turn 60 I'm desperately and selfishly interested in things financial).
Re my mention of ATA -- sorry, I guess I was so fascinated by your listing of all your plugins that I just missed your crediting of ATA/BytesForAll.
"Maybe I should give Atahualpa greater prominence?"
YES! By all means! You, of all people, certainly appreciate the depth and versatility of Flynn's creation. Your site is the first I've seen that rivals Paula's Larchmont Gazette. You might consider giving ATA separate credit back in the main footer next to your general "Acknowledgments" link.
Thanks again for sharing! Now, I have to visit that Get Custom Field Values plugin and see how it works -- you make it sound SO SIMPLE! Jim

I'm also using the Sidebar Shortcodes plugin, which may be needed for this to work.
To use the Custom Field Values plugin as I did on Capital Flow Watch, follow these steps:
- Create widget areas at the bottom of the center column. I use six different widget areas for each type of article that I am selecting.
- Create a custom field value in an article that you would like to excerpt in a widget area. Use HTML and CSS to format, include images, links, etc. to create a customized excerpt. Place this in the custom field you've created. I have six different custom field values, one for each widget area.
- If you want to randomly insert hand-crafted excerpts selected by topic, do this by setting up standard custom field designations. For example, I use 'sb_excerpt' to indicate all articles about 'stock buybacks', 'we_excerpt' to indicate 'world economy' , etc.
- Use the text widget to place the shortcode for the customized excerpt in a specific area. Title the widget to indicate the kind of article and then place code, like this:[custom_field field="extract_we" random="1" limit="1" /]. What this does is randomly select i article with the custom field 'extract_we' and places the value for that custom field in the widget area. If you have 20 articles with the custom field 'sb_extract', it will randomly select one of these articles to display.
- On my site, these widget areas appear also on the inner pages. Since articles are selected randomly, each set of excerpts is different from other pages.
I use only some of the features of this plugin.
Jim, I hope this is useful. (I'm not sure whether this is the proper place to post this.)

Hi All,
I wanted to show off an Atahualpa site I have just done for a client. http://www.securedb2.com/
Many thanks to Juggledad and Burn for sending me down the right path to get the menu buttons the way I wanted!
And many thanks, of course, to Flynn for such a great, configurable theme!!!

I just started my blog a few days ago. Here it is: http://x-evolutionist.com/
I have not customized it too much yet. Here are two things I want to be able to do:
1. I want to center the title and tagline in the header.
2. I want to edit my css so I can pick the colors that I want my links to be. I want them all the same throughout so I can change them all at once if I want a change.
I don't know how to do that stuff. Any help would be appreciated!
