[SOLVED] Sidebar extending to top

Hi,
I don't think that there is an easy way to do this in ATA, but you never know..

I have a client who wants to make a WP site that looks similar to this one http://sylvalaw.com (its Joomla!)

All I can think of is splitting the image on the left into 2 pieces and putting one part in the header and one in the L sidebar as background images.

Is there a way to extend a sidebar to the top of the page?
