I have a custom slideshow built with http://wowslider.com and I want it to appear in place of the header on my home page only.

Ideally I would like to insert an I-frame containing the WOWslider data in this space.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

You could probably add a new widget area to the header box and then use an iframe aware widget.

I wasn't sure this was going to work, I pasted my Iframe code in the "Configure Header Area" box

%pages %logo %bar1 %image %bar2 %<iframe id="I1"......

It is displaying great. My only question now is.... How can I make this display on just one page and not throughout the site?

That is where using a new widget area would come in you can use the Display Widgets plugin to only show that widget on the home page. Since conditional PHP isn't allowed any more I am not sure how to show that iframe on only the home page.
