Ok so I have a plugin which doesn't require a created wordpress page, however it does have it's own slug. It is a business directory plugin which uses several slugs across 3 different pages. The types of pages are:
Single Company Page (e.g. http://www.wpbusinessdirectory.info/...-computer-inc/)
Category and Tag Pages (it doesn't lists all categories, lists companies in that category, e.g. http://www.wpbusinessdirectory.info/...gory/internet/)
Directory Listing (lists all companies, e.g. http://www.wpbusinessdirectory.info/dir)
I am trying to use a custom template on these pages, but it won't work because it keeps defaulting to the "single.php" or "index.php" template. I understand custom templates are not automatically assigned and if they need to be used, they must be assigned to a page. But as this plugin has no page, how can I get around this? I don't want to edit the default template because I use it for other things.
There are instructions here.

I've tried creating the custom template using the post type such as "single-wpecbd.php" but I can't assign it to a non-existent page. I've also tried creating a page using the same slug but it takes no notice of the page I created.
If anyone could help I would be grateful
The plugin is wpbusinessdirectory: http://wpbusinessdirectory.info
It is a paid plugin not a free one.
Thanks
