The searchform.php has changed with this new version, so I am not sure how to add text within the search box. Can you help me?

what do you have set at ATO->Style & edit HEADER AREA->Text in header search box?

nothing because my search box is set up in a widget area.

If you are using the default WordPress 'search' widget, WordPress offers no option to enter default text in the search box. You will have to find another widget or edit the widget code to add text.

This is not a theme issue
