widgets for ordering categories and subcategories

I would like to change the order of my categories and also show the subcategories indented under the main categories in the sidebar, I have tries three widgets (category order, category order and taxonomy, collapsing categories). They all appear the be working in admin and allowing me to drag and drop my categories into order, but this is not reflected on the website. I just can't work it out.

I am a beginner on Atahualpa and Word press and not sure what else I can do...any help appreciated!
