Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Moving/Copying/Archiving Atahualpa Theme Settings

I am moving many blogs. I love the Atahualpa theme, but one thing is sure, setting it up the way I want it, with all the great options, takes a LONG time. Just thinking of having to redo the incredible amount of work this was for every blog nearly makes me weep and consider something less customizeable but a lot less time consuming. Isn't there some way that I can save/archive/copy my theme options, so that once I install the theme on another server, I could upload a file or run a script or something that would update the settings to match the other? Any ideas?? Many thanks.

Sorry for the elementary question, but when I export my settings to another blog, only some of the changes (like pages and posts) transfer over. I would like to transfer all of the atahualpa changes I made in the test blog to all of my blogs (I created a wordpress site for a company that has 100+ blogs). It is not feasible to make changes to the theme individually 100+ times.

I do not have PhpMyAdmin account. Could someone please explain to me how to export all of the changes and import them onto every blog I have? I use Cyberduck to organize the files. I have very little knowledge of computer programming, so I really appreciate any help or advise for making theme changes across all of my blogs. Thanks!!!!

wordpress has two parts: The code and the database. The database contains all the data you create - the users, the posts, categories, permalink settings. The Code, using the info in the database, creates the html that displays all the pages.

You can add 'extras' to the code - plugins and themes, both of which may store data in the database to help create the HTML that will display the pages you view. All the Atahualpa theme settings are stored in the database.

If you just move the database to a new blog, you will not see the Atahualpa design you built - UNLESS you have the Atahualpa theme in that WordPress install also (takes both parts, the code and the info in the database)

If you just move the Atahualpa theme CODE to the new wordpress install, you won't see anything untill you move the Atahualpa settings from teh DATABASE.

You can move the code using an FTP program, but to move database settings you must export the settings from one database and import them to the new database (phpMyAdmin being the tool of choice)

One other way you can setup a second Wordpress to look the same as the first is to go page by page and copy the settings using copy/paste to the new database.
