There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Width of rotating header images--Can they be wider?

Hello. Been working with Atahualpa 3.4.4. It was slow going while I learned a totally new tool, but I'm a happy camper now.

I was able to create my own rotating images and get the banner to use them. One small issue, though. Here at the office, the size of the rotating images (1300 x 160) is just fine even with the window maximized. However, when I look at the same images at home, there is a little white margin on either side of the image when maximized. Not really what I had in mind.

Is the answer to make the images wider (say, 1600?). And if I do, is there an HTML file where I will have to specify the new size?

Or is it just impossible to make a one-size fits all?

what you see depends on the monitos screen settings. If you have a monitor who's maximum setting is 800 x 600, vers 1920 x 1080 you will see the screen differently

You have to decide what's the size screen most people will view your site with. Then design your site for that size screen.

On my personal family site, I defined it to have a maximum width of 1440px and that is how big I make my images. If you make the screen smaller you will see less of the image.

Okay, well, I'll try just making the images about 1400 wide and see what that does. Still have a sneaky feeling that I need to doctor HTML somewhere...

nope you don't have to touch any html. One thing to remember is you can control where the images are pinned.

What this means is, if your image is 1400px and the screen is 1400px everything fits great, but if someone makes the screen smaller by resizing it, part of the image is going to disappear.

You can choose where to 'pin' the image. If you pin it in the center, then as you resize the screen, the two sides will start to vanish, if you 'pin' it to the right, then the left side will vanish

Why is this important, you might ask ("Hey JD, why is this important?") I'll tell you. Lets say you have an image with something important on the right side of the image...the picture of your store. If you 'pin' the header image in the center, as someone resizes the screen, the store will vanish out of the window as it gets smaller. So in this case you would want to 'pin' the image to the right. This would hold true if they view it on a monitor with a smaller resolution

ATO->Header Image->Header Image: Alignment
