Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

On my LHS side bar after a recent download, I noticed a "A sample text widget" show up.

Here is the exact thing that showed up.
A sample text widget
Etiam pulvinar consectetur dolor sed malesuada. Ut convallis euismod dolor nec pretium. Nunc ut tristique massa.

Nam sodales mi vitae dolor ullamcorper et vulputate enim accumsan. Morbi orci magna, tincidunt vitae molestie nec, molestie at mi. Nulla nulla lorem, suscipit in posuere in, interdum non magna.
This text widget does not show up in my widget sidebar. Actually no widgets are being shown in left sidebar, even though I have two widgets in there.

I also am being told that Facebook puts my link in a different language, which started to occur at the same time.

I am having problems loading new widgets since the widget showed up.

thanks for the help.

What version of WordPress and Atahualpa? Can you supply a link to your site?
The sample text widget is part of a default set of widgets that show up as place holders in any sidebars you have set to show. This is so people don't have an empty sidebar set to visible by mistake. Here is what you need to do.
  • Go to ATO>Configure Sidebars and check the boxes for which sidebars you want visible.
  • Put your widgets in one of those sidebars.
If you have widgets in a sidebar that is not set to be viewed they will not be visible.

I hope that helps. If I have misunderstood anything let me know. I am somewhat guessing on your set up as I can't see the site.

Thanks so much. Here's the site's address: http://www.courageouspriest.com/

Everything is clicked for the left sidebar except for "Custom Taxonomy Pages".

WP version 3.0.4
Atahualpa version 3.6.1

Thanks again.

I have no idea why the widgets in your left sidebar are not showing. Could you attach a settings file to a reply and I will take a look. (Use the paper clip)

I have attached it. I think.

If this isn't what you need please let me know.

Just to be clear, the widgets on the LHS are showing up on the site, but not on my Dashboard - Widgets section.

Again thank you so much

Wordpress by default, displays some widgets in the left and right sidebars. Once you add a widget to the sidebar, you are in control and the default widgets stop displaying.

So to change the widgets, just go and add a widget to the sidebar and you will see the one you chose and the others will go away. If you want one of the ones that are already there, you will have to add it.

The idea is that WP will add some common widgets but once you add one in, you are in control.

I misunderstood. I though you were saying you had put some widgets in the left sidebar and the default widgets were still showing.
