Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Hi JuggleDad,
I previously had a problem (http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthread.php?t=3690) which I'd like to revisit for some clarification. To start from the top:

Each post has multiple categories assigned to it. Wordpress assigns only one of these categories as the 'default' category and that is the category with the lowest ID.

The problem is with the bfa_next_previous_post_links() function. When you choose to display MULTI post pages from the low ID category the bfa_next_previous_post_links() function works well, but if you choose a category with a higher ID, the Byline does not display the posts in that chosen category. This is confusing to the user that thinks they have chosen say category India, but is taken to a post in a different category/country. (www.travelhorizonstyle.com.au)

Any thoughts? ANY THING AT ALL WOULD BE HELPFUL ...
Kind regards,
Joan

I am absolutely astonished that I have not had a single suggestion. Is there no one else in this forum who assigns more than one category to a post ?

Atahualpa's Next / Previous function still draws from the wordpress default, lowest ID category. Ideally, I'd like to have the function detect which category was chosen from the menu system. There is a brilliant plugin called "Ajax Category Dropdown" by DyasonHat that is able to detect which category has been chosen. (seen at the bottom right of my site). Therefore the code should be possible. So if the category "country/India" was chosen, the bfa_next_previous_post_links() does not display a post from say, "country/Africa" !!

The plugin "sCategory Permalink" by Dmytro Shteflyuk changes the URL to my preferred category, The wordpress default is the category with the lowest ID (ie, the one you created first when the blog was in it's infancy). But I'd really like to end the confusion with the Next/Prev link, or delete it from the Byline. Note that breadcrumb plugins also draw only from the lowest ID category.

Please if Juggledad is too busy, can Flynn help ? I'm happy to go digging to assist.
Kind regards,
Joan

Thanks JuggleDad,
Good luck with updating to 3.4.5 and changing the Next/Prev links when on a single post page. Glad you're all ok there too.
