Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Content jumping left/right if page needs to scroll or not...

I am using a fixed width of 797 px and have built my blog as a traditional homepage.
For some of my pages there is not enough content for the page to scroll - for some it is. And this makes the content jump left/right about 5px depending on which pages is showing.
Do you know how I can solve this?

Thank you

the jump is because of the scroll bar displaing - if you make the window jso the left edge is at the left edge of the image, then switching pages doesn't cause a jump, but a bottom scroll bar shows up.

try playing with a min/max size and make the width 95%

jso = fumble fingers, I meant 'so' - line up the left edge of the image with the left edge of your window

sorry - I was just saying to line up the page so you could see that it was the scroll bar that was causing the jumping

Did you try min/max width and page size? (ATO->Style & configure LAYOUT)

ok, yeah it's is the scrolling that causes the 'jump'. And it jumps wether or not I have the width flexible or fixed. Any ideas?

the only way you might fix this is if you force your browser to always show the scroll bar. That would fix it for you, but not for someone else using another browser.

This is a function of the way browsers work. The browser is grabbing (or releasing) a part of the width of the window to display the scroll bar. The only way you wouldn't see this is if the window became wider by the width of the scroll bar and how would that be handled if the window was already set to the full size of the monitor?

I think this is one of those "that's life, live with it" issues.
