Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Down and Dirty SEO

OK, I'm kinda new to this so, is there a quick set of down and dirty suggestions to help me understand and manage SEO or am I in for a "real learning experience" from the get go? (HEY, I saw that 'OMG, no!" eye roll)

I've seen several people are using All in One SEO with Atahualpa. My understanding is that this plugin automatically populates the SEO fields (if that is the correct terms) making this a good "beginners" start at getting the site effectively seeded in the search engines? Then I can go back and tweek the page and title content if I want better results and continue to let All in One SEO do it's job?

And this is as opposed to going through the entire site and manually setting all SEO content in the pages and in any post tag lines, using my best judgment (which is based in ignorance)?

I've been told that good SEO is a highly paid art, particularly if you're going against highly competitive, intensive information sites like attorneys pages competing with Findlaw and each other, etc. I was also told that SEO mismanagement can result in the site being blacklisted as spam for a long time.

I REALLY don't want to screw up an attorney's site.

Any help please and thanks?

Overrated highly paid art

Think it is mentioned in one of below videos but check out HeadSpace2 SEO. More like a multi-tool of some kind but sure also take care of SEO. If overkill may be you are not a SEO person? Takes a bit of time to get under control probably.

Find some popcorn and relax:

More straight talk than you will get from paid SEO consultant I think Seems like focus is more on doing it right than paying up - unless your time is valuable much can be homemade. SEO probably covers a lot more though. Site can be optimized and shiny and still fail.

But also check the Google dudes blog, good info - more videos too! http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/type/googleseo/ Yoast has a list to wonder about http://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/

Google Webmaster Central http://www.google.com/webmasters/ boring but only until you see their Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/GoogleWe...rHelp#grid/all A bit more than Google Analytics.

Firefox puts another layer on this, check SenSEO http://www.sensational-seo.com/ SeoQuake SEO https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3036 or a simple toolbar like Foxy SEO tool http://www.foxyseotool.com/ besides all the oldies making sure technical stuff is working, Firebug, Yslow, Page Speed, Web Developer. Find out what is useful to you.

From zero to hero in a month http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/seo...ero-in-a-month

But notice conclusion. Effort and funding required to make something that holds water and still race towards Google top at high speed. If all you want is hits just show some naked girls! Has worked before...

the "vimeo.com" video is awesome. Yoast (joost) is MUCH easier for the beginner to understand that Matt Cutts. Will continue to compare resources.
