I've got a bit of a modified menu setup (using instructions from here: http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthread.php?t=6625)

On child pages, I would like the menu to reflect the place in navigation. Eg, on "About > FAQ", both "About" (parent) and "FAQ" (child) are a different colour.

As a second best option, I'd be happy with changing the color of the current child page.

use css to color the custom menu - you have the ID so you can tye off that, ie

div.ABOUT_MENU a:link,
div.ABOUT_MENU a:visited,
div.ABOUT_MENU a:hover,
div.ABOUT_MENU a:active,
div.ABOUT_MENU a {color: red;}
