Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Is it possible to have multiple page layouts in one blog??

Hi all,

Please excuse my ignorance if this question has been answered already.

I am looking for a blog theme that will allow me to have several different page layouts in one blog ie.e one layout for the news page, a different layout for reviews etc. Does anyone know of a theme (or themes) that allow this?

I like the functionality of ithemes builder, which allows multiple page layouts in the one blog, but the themes available for this are bloody ugly.

Any advice you guys can give would be most appreciated.

Thanks heaps

Any theme will allow you to build page templates. You can read more about it here. Also Gold members (those that have donated $20 or more) have access to a custom query page template. This page template will allow you to use one template on any number of pages and craft a query to show posts on that page.

Want to show all the posts in a category - you can do it
Want to show all the posts for several categories - you can do it
Want to show all the posts for a tag? - you can do it
Want to show all the post except those from a category? - you can do that
Want to show all stickies? - yup, you can do that too

Thanks heaps mate. I am not sure if I am making myself clear enough - due to being a novice.

I am looking for a Wordpress theme that allows me to place a different page layout for each section (in the one blog). Is this possible to do?

You can do this, Atahualpa gives you some of this ability - like you can exclude any one of the sidebars from particular pages, You can use PHP in the Atahualpa option 'The LOOP' to control what gets displayed, but it will mostly involve adding a lot of CSS.

A theme is the look and feel of the SITE, and is not generally setup on a per page basis. However, Atahualpa gives you the ability to add CSS Inserts as an option. Using this, you can create CSS Selectors and rules based on the PAGE ID's. Mostly people do this to change the background color on several pages of hide the header image.

But you can do as much as you want. I suggest you educate yourself in CSS and do some reading about Wordpress and how to identify the pages (there is a PAGE ID that you will reference)

So the answer is Yes, Atahualpa will support multiple stylings for different pages, it just doesn't do all the work for you.

Yes i agree with juggledad. You have to do many changes in CSS of your theme but it will not work for one page. Whatever changes you make that will apply for whole theme of your blog. Different theme for different post is not possible by doing so.
Thanks

There is a way to make CSS reference only one page via a PAGE ID selector as mentioned in Juggledad's post. There are also settings in ATO>Style & configure Sidebars, for one that allow you to only show sidebars on certain pages also as mentioned on Juggledad's post.

You can, as I mentioned previously, also build you own page template but this requires a "bit" more work and research.

One more thing... The is are plugins that allow you to choose a different background color for a particular post or page or a special header image.

Bottom line is you can do pretty much anything you want to. Some things will just require more leg work than others.
