I am having this problem on two sites I am building. This string tells me it is likely the .htaccess file.

So I went to the root folder and made .htacess read .htaccessold and updated and refreshed screen and the problem remains. It is only reading two categories and "uncategorized."

Any ideas?

Yes, it does the same thing with 2012.

I made the .htaccess into .htaccessold and when I did that, none of the subpages showed (Page not found) so I returned it to .htaccess

how many posts do you have? Remember the categoies won't show up in the widget if it is not assigned to a post....
