I know that this is not a new otpic, but I have tried everything I can find in the existing posts and nothing works.

Just to clarify, I trying to put a background image in the header logo area. according posts, I should be able to get this to happen by putting the following CSS code into the Logo Area: Styling box:

background: url (http://www.forthemultitude.org/wp-co..._956x147.gif);

unfortunately, it does not seem to do anything. Any suggestions?

By the way, this is an impressive theme, so much so that I donated to your cause.

try using
background: url(http://www.forthemultitude.org/wp-co...uge-logo.gif);

I tried to load your image, but got a not found - I just typed
http://www.forthemultitude.org/wp-co...go_956x147.gif

make the image is in that directory and that the name is correct and verify the upper/lower case letters
