Using self hosted WP 2.9.2 and today, did an auto upload from the dashboard which resulted in an entire blog crash. All the files and widgets remained on the server, gratefully, so I tried uploading the theme again, without success.

Finally, I had to load a new theme, just to get my blog back up if even temporarily.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any suggestions? I'd like to stay with Atahuala.

Yes, I had problems too just now. Auto upgrade takes the entire blog down with pages full of php warnings. Luckily I had a backup to restore.

I suspect this is a host issue. My suspicion is that the update is taking so long - on some hosts - that a time is being exceeded and the task is prematurely ended. It could be that there is a wait on something at wordpress.org or your site is on a slow server which causes the time out.

I just did a fresh install of WordPress and installed 3.3.3 and did the automatic upgrade to 3.4.6 - no problem. I then cleaned everthing out and did a 3.4.3 to 3.4.6 automatic upgrade - again, no problems.

If you have this problem - do a manual install.

had autoinstall glitch. tried manual install by adding "new" theme, uploading 346. still broken.

suggestions?

manual upgrade fixed problem - only lost my header images...
