permanent content at top of home page

Does anybody know if it's possible to have permanent content at the top of the home page, above the posts?

sure, put it in the header. You can add a <div..>...</div> to the 'Configure Header Area' and put what ever you want in it

I just want this content on the home page. No other pages or posts.

Well you could add some CSS to set the 'display: none', then another CSS for the front page with d'isplay: block'
