I am new to both wordpress and the Atahualpa theme. I would like to be able to add an image to the content area of a single static page. Is there a possible plugin for this?

Adding an image to a post or page is a core function of WordPress. You don't need a plugin. You should probably search for some WordPress tutorials to get you started.
