What i am trying to achieve is to have 2 pages that operate where the content is dynamic. ie. home page is a blog tracking exercise progress, "page2" is a food journal that is updated like a blog. Basically a second page that only displays "food journal" category posts. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything like this. Thanks for any ideas.

There are at least two category post list plugins that let you put a shortcode in a page or post to display posts from a particular category. Try a search on wordpress.org.

you could aslo use the 'Multi Column/custom Query template' to seperate your posts to multiple pages based on categories. It is in the Gold Forums Tutorials section.
