Need some help to make homepage 2 column

Hello,

I would like to get some help of coding homepage for 2 column style. I am a noob for php and just a bit better in CSS so be gentle, please. The site: http://cwspublishing.com

Edit: Not with tables though, I found that solution but it kills the layout.
