I plan on adding the code needed to display the category description to the top of my archive pages, but I am trying to find out a way(code) that will display the description on ONLY the first archive page... not all of them.

I have a code that I use on other wordpress blogs that do not use this theme, but it seems that it doesn't work for this theme. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Instead of editing a theme file with the code, which would get overwritten in a theme upgrade I would instead use the List Category Posts plugin or Juggledad's Multi-Column page template.

Sorry about that. The page template is in the Gold forum which is only accessible to those who have donated $20 or more. To find the other plugin just do a search at wordpress.org.

lmilesw: I am not sure how the plugin for "List Category Posts" would make a category description display just once on the first category/archive page... but not page 2-10+. Please let me know how you are suggesting I use that to accomplish what I am trying to do. Thanks.
