Since atagualpa update a plugin does not work (Thumbnail For Excerpts). This plugin was to put a small photo and a brief description of the posts.

That is now handled by the featured image function. That plugin is older and could very possibly not work now.

It would seem like you could just add featured images to your posts and you would be all set. If you don't want to manually go through your post this plugin may help but I have not tested.
