What size should the header be?

Hi there...just started using WP and this great theme.
I have worked out how to upload my own image for teh header, but it is all scrunched up in the middle.

can anyone tell me what size I should make the header image so it fits right across the page.

that depends; I have mine at 1300 px, but I'm being basic.

I recommed you install the theme, activate it and read all of Flynn's wonderful help messages and examples that he has with each setting. There is a nice explanation of the header settings under Atahualpa Theme Options ->Header Image.
