Optional images are appearing above and below the header, not on either side

I am trying to create a header with a central, static logo with a slideshow on either side. However, the widgets and images both end up above and below the logo. Can you please help me figure out how to fix it?

First swap to the Atahualpa or Montezuma theme and then see if you still have a problem. After all that is what this forum supports.

Sorry, I was playing with themes and I left it on a theme I am not using. The trouble I am having is with Atahualpa. If you go back now, you will see what I am talking about.
