Good 2017 options for rotating header images?
 

Hi all and Happy New Year!

(Admins, I'm donating again right after I type this.) I need to have rotating headers, not just when I change pages but the header changes as I remain on the home page, for ex. The posts I'm seeing are 8 years old. Are there any new recommendations for a nice way to do this? Simplest is always great. ;) )

TIA for any thoughts. Using ATA 3.7.24 and WP 4.7.

Hi guys! I donated, I asked, nothing happened! I found a simple slideshow where I can use shortcodes but can I use it in the header area instead of the static header image, please? It didn't seem to work. Some help, please O please? juggledad? :confused: :o

Ok, here is what you do. You are going to install the Shortcode Widget plugin and then add a dynamic widget area into the header, put the widget into the new widget area and add yor shortcode to the widget

1) download and activate the plugin
2) go to ATO->Style & edit HEADER AREA->Configure Header Area and add the following:
remember to put it where you want it in relation to the other options. Options from LEFT to RIGHT show TOP to BOTTOM
3) Go visit the sitee t activate the dynamic widget code
4) go to dashboard->Appearances->Widgets and add an occurance of the 'Shortcode Widget' to the new 'Headre Slideshow' widget area
5) add your shortcode and go see it in action

Thanks very much, juggledad - that worked very well! I've ended up with perhaps a 5px gap between the slideshow and the content area... I'll have to sort out where that came from and how to remove it, but the slideshow itself (all 3 images of it ;) ) functions well. Hope everyone in your family is on the mend!
